Former cruiserweight world title challenger Darnell "The Ding-A-Ling Man" Wilson has scored a huge upset tonight with a six-round TKO over previously undefeated David Rodriguez of El Paso, TX at Resorts International Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
Wilson stopped Rodriguez at 2:59 of the round in the scheduled six-round bout. According to boxing reporter Jack Obermayer, Wilson landed a crushing left hook to stop Rodriguez.
The win breaks a five-bout losing streak for the former Takoma Park, MD resident and Beltway fan favorite who now fights out of Miami, FL. Wilson is now 25-17-3, 21 KO's. Rodriguez falls to 36-1, 34 KO's.
We are now underway here at the Convention Center. In our first bout, Joshua "Marvelous Moe" Parker takes on Julius Stroud of Charlotte, NC. Four rounds in the Super Lightweight division.
