The Maryland Boxing Club card on Friday, February 21 at the Shipley Arena at the Carroll County AG Center is starting to come together. The main event, as previously announced, features Eldersburg, MD light heavyweight Mark "TNT" Tucker in a 10-round bout against Paul Vasquez of Martinez, CA.
Tucker (16-1, seven KO's) returned to action for the first time in more than two years and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Rayford Johnson on November 15 at the Shipley Arena. Vasquez (9-4-1, three KO's) will be trying to break a two-bout losing streak.
In the co-feature, undefeated Lancaster, PA junior welterweight Rolando Chinea will face Raphael Luna of Albany, NY in a six-round contest. Chinea (5-0-1, three KO's) is coming off a four-round TKO victory over Benjamin Olinga on November 23 at the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore, MD. Luna (4-6-3, one KO) is 0-3-2 in his last five bouts over a four-year period.
Olinga, a welterweight from DC by way of Cameroon (1-4), will try to bounce back from his last two losses on this card as he will be the opponent for the debuting Seth Billups of Ashburn, VA. Billups is a former Virginia State amateur champion.
Also returning to action will be former Maryland State Lightweight champion Tyrell "Da Show Shock'A" Samuel of Baltimore, MD who will take on David Warren Huffman of Cincinnati, OH in a four-round contest. Samuel (14-5-1, six KO's) has not fought since dropping a six-round majority decision to Ryan Belasco in May of 2012 in Dover, DE. Huffman (4-18-1, one KO) has lost his last seven bouts but has been very successful in the Beltway as three of his four wins have come in local settings.
Also slated to be on the card are undefeated Laurel, MD super middleweight Demond Nicholson (5-0, five KO's) and Capitol Heights, MD cruiserweight Shaborn Ryals (2-0).
