The weekend of February 14-15 will be yet another huge one for the Beltway Boxing scene. Two locals will be in very important contests that, if victorious, will do wonders for their career.

Let's take the second bout of the weekend first. On Friday, Stevensville, MD middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter (16-3-1, 11 KO's) and his team arrived in Copenhagen, Denmark to prepare for his 12-round contest against undefeated hometown hero Patrick Nielsen (21-0, 10 KO's) for the WBC Silver title on Saturday, February 15. A win against Nielsen puts Jeter in line for a world title shot.
While not a huge bout stateside, this bout will be televised in five countries. Jeter will be fighting in front of a huge and what should be a hostile crowd as Nielsen is a huge favorite in his homeland.
On Friday, February 14, Baltimore, MD junior welterweight Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor will face a hostile crowd of his own when he faces undefeated hometown hero Chris Algieri in a 10-round nationally televised contest at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, NY.
Taylor (17-1, 12 KO's) is ranked number six in the world by the IBF so he needs the win to keep that momentum going. Taylor scored a solid six-round TKO victory against Ray Serrano at the Paramount in January of 2013. This will be Taylor's third straight national TV contest -- his second straight on ESPN2.
Algieri (18-0, eight KO's) is unranked and this is a big step-up for him. Algieri has fought his last seven bouts at the Paramount with his biggest win coming against former title contender Mike Arnaoutis by 10-round unanimous decision on July 20.
Again, this bout will be the main event on ESPN2 on Friday, February 14 at 9 PM ET.
