BATB caught up with three female Beltway Boxers at the Pataspco Arena on Saturday night. Two of these ladies have big bouts coming up in November.
On the right is undefeated three-belt, two-division world champion Tori "Sho Nuff" Nelson of Ashburn, VA. In her last bout, Nelson (7-0-3) won her third title -- the WIBA Welterweight championship -- with a 10-round unanimous decision over Aleksandra Lopes on September 13 in Lincoln, RI. Nelson will defend that title on Thursday, November 7 at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD during the Jonathan Ogden Foundation Benefit boxing card.
On the left is undefeated Baltimore-based prospect Tyrieshia "Lady Tiga"Douglas, who last fought on July 20 at Coppin State University and won a four-round unanimous decision over Marisol Miranda. Douglas (3-0, one KO) will compete on the Fight Night Fight For Children card on Thursday, November 14 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. No word yet on her opponent.
In the middle is rising amateur standout Amelia Moore who boxes out of Club One Fitness in Millersville, MD. On Saturday, I announced part of the Fight For Life amateur boxing card at the University of Maryland Cole Field House in College Park. Moore participated on that card and won her bout. It was very surprising to see her at Patapsco Arena where she helped work the corner for a number of the out-of-town boxers who participated on that card. Moore told BATB that she would like to turn pro at some point but she wants to make an attempt at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
