Former WBO Junior Welterweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley returns to action on Thursday, September 27 when he faces "The Turkish Warrior" Selcuk Aydin in Istanbul, Turkey.
Corley (39-20-1, 23 KO's) hasn't fought since losing a 12-round unanimous decision to Viktor Postol on October 27 in Kiev, Ukraine. Turkey will be the ninth country other than the US that Corley has competed in.
Aydin (25-2, 18 KO's) is a native of Trabazon, Turkey but now fights out of Germany. Aydin last competed on July 27 and stopped Aaron Herrera in the eighth round in Niedersachen, Germany.
This contest will be a 12-round contest for the vacant WBC Mediterrean Junior Welterweight title. That's a new belt, I think.
Closer to home, the weekend bouts on October 4th and 5th have been altered. First, BATB has learned that the Friday, October 4 Babie Girl Productions card at the DC Armory has been postponed. No word yet on when the card will be rescheduled.
The Saturday, October 5 Sugar Han Promotions card at the ABC Sports Complex been enhanced by the addition of DC heavyweight Danny "Smooth" Kelly and Burke, VA middleweight Antoine "Action" Douglas. Kelly (4-0-1, four KO's) will try to bounce back from his four-round draw against Jamal Woods on September 13 in Newark, NJ. Douglas (9-0, six KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Edgar Perez on August 23 in Verona, NY. No word yet on the opponents for either men.
