Shah tried to use his height and long reach to keep the shorter Quarles at bay. However, Quarles was able to figure a way inside and landed some solid overhand right hands that sent Shah to the corner. To his credit, Shah never went down and didn't seem hurt. However, Shah did not return back anything during the flurry and referee Joe Cooper stopped the contest at 2:41 of the round.
With the win, Quarles is now 11-2-1, four KO's. Shah is now 5-3, three KO's.
As we said, no post-fight wrap-up tonight. So here is a brief look at the upcoming Beltway Boxing schedule:
Monday, November 11 -- Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, TX. Fernando Guerrero is the co-feature on a card televised by Fox Sports 1 and Fox Espanol.
Thursday, November 14 -- Fight Night at the Washington Hilton and Towers. Tyrieshia Douglas is scheduled on that card. We will not be attending the card due to logistical issues.
Friday, November 15 -- The Carroll County AG Center in Westminster, MD. The return of Mark "TNT" Tucker headlines this card. This will be our next stop.
Saturday, November 16 -- Estadio Ramón Tahuichi Aguilera, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. "The Bolivan Queen" Jennifer Salinas battles for the vacant WBF (World Boxing Federation) Super Bantamweight championship against Yolis Marrugo Franco. We'll preview this bout later this week.
