Good, tough majority decision win for Tyrone Wright over a very game Enrique Vargas.
Wright controlled the first two rounds of the contest with a solid jab and right hook. Vargas battled back very nicely in the second half of the bout and did get a draw on judge Paul Wallace's card, 38-38. However, judges Brent Bovell and Steve Rados saw the contest 39-37.
Wright is now 2-1. Vargas was making his pro debut.
The only all-Beltway bout of the card is next: Gerome Quigley of Gaithersburg, MD (2-0, two KO's) takes on Cambridge, MD's Dontre "Pound For Pound' King (7-15-2, three KO's). Four rounds, welterweights.
